We look forward to meeting you on your first visit to your office! At this appointment, Dr. Cox will do an examination and then discuss potential treatment options with you.
An initial X-ray may be recommended to assist in your evaluation. The cost for this is $75. A copy of the X-ray, along with a report from Dr. Cox, will be forwarded to your personal dentist.
After we have evaluated your records and outlined your customized treatment plan, Dr. Cox and his staff will discuss treatment cost estimates with you. We encourage questions from both the patient and the parent, and as such, we provide ample time to answer your questions.
What to Do in an Emergency
Call our office as soon as possible if you break or loosen any of your appliances.
Even if you have a regular appointment scheduled,
call us immediately to notify us if you need an appliance repaired.
The first week after your braces are in place and routine adjustments are complete,
you will likely feel some pain, soreness or discomfort.
You may take acetaminophen or other non-aspirin pain relievers while you adjust to your new braces.
A warm wash cloth or heating pad may reduce the soreness in your jaws.
Most patients lose a separator during their treatment. Don't worry about losing a separator, but call our office to see if it needs to be replaced.
If a wire from your braces is causing irritation or pain, try moving the wire with a cotton swap or eraser, cover the end with a piece of cotton or wax or cut it with sterilized nail clippers or scissors. If you need help, call our office for an appointment.
Usually a local orthodontist will see you for an emergency visit. If our office is on vacation we will have made arrangements for another local orthodontist to see you for emergency care. Their number will be left on our phone messaging system.
Orthodontic appliances occasionally bend or break, and will be repaired at your next appointment. If you feel pain or if a wire is aggressively poking your cheek or gums, please call the office as soon as possible so we can arrange some relief.
Finances and Insurance
It is our mission to provide you with affordable orthodontic treatment that fits your budget. Treatment costs depend on severity of the orthodontic problem and we will thoroughly discuss it with you before treatment begins. We offer a variety of payment options to meet your needs, including customized payment plans and payment plan extensions. We also accept all major credit and debit cards.
We understand that families do have temporary financial difficulties from time to time and will work with you if this should happen.
While we do not deal directly with insurance carriers, we are happy to help you with your insurance claim. Many insurance policies have a lifetime orthodontic benefit that is distinct from regular dental insurance.
